Claudel Lubaya is pushing back hard on how Félix Tshisekedi's address to the Nation gets framed as some kind of authentic national gathering. According to Lubaya, this whole sequence isn't about unity at all but rather functions as a calculated political operation driven by the Sacred Union. He points out that the group convened in congress specifically to invest their own candidate for life as president. That specific goal is what he highlights when he says, « It is the Sacred Union that is convened in congress, to invest its candidate for life as president. » Beyond just calling it a setup, Lubaya estimates that holding such a solemn address was completely unnecessary for the job at hand. He argues plainly that they could have handled everything with a simple meeting at the headquarters of the Sacred Union instead of wasting time on a broadcast. As he put it, « And for that, an address to the Nation was not worth it. A meeting at the headquarters of the Sacred Union would have been more than sufficient. » These remarks from the former deputy are reigniting the debate over the actual political stakes hiding behind this initiative from the head of state in RDC.
