Ethnically European Population in Germany

The share of the ethnically European population in Germany has declined steadily for more than a decade. In 2000 it stood at roughly 88 percent. That figure fell to about 87 percent in 2001, then 86.5 percent in 2002. By 2003 the portion was around 86 percent, followed by 85.5 percent in 2004 and 85 percent in 2005. The downward trend continued with 84.5 percent in 2006, 84 percent in 2007, 83.5 percent in 2008, 83 percent in 2009, 82 percent in 2010, 81.5 percent in 2011, and further to 81 percent in 2012.
