The Ganges River dolphin population in India has been steadily increasing over the years. In 2000, there were 2,000 individuals; by 2001, the number rose to 3,250. The population continued to grow, reaching 3,300 in 2002, 3,350 in 2003, and 3,450 in 2004. By 2005, there were 3,550 dolphins, followed by 3,650 in 2006, 3,750 in 2007, and 3,900 in 2008.
