Lionel Messi’s father, Jorge Messi, has passed away at 68 in Rosario, Argentina. Infobae reports that he died last night around 10:00 p.m. in a local sanatorium. Jorge was a foundational presence in Leo’s story, there from his earliest kicks, guiding him and serving as his representative through much of his career. The man behind the icon, he helped shape a path that led to World Cup glory and a nation’s pride. Deepest condolences to Lionel and the whole Messi family during this painful time. #LionelMessi
