Romeo Malverde, the man behind Santos Escobar, is recounting how things went down after his contract hit October. He says he was ready to walk away and see what else was out there when midnight struck. The next day around 1 or 2 PM, Nick Khan called him personally. Khan didn't apologize for anything personal though, just the way WWE treated his character. He told Malverde they were gonna do it right this time, promising anything needed to thrive and prosper, plus a sit-down with Triple H to get everything squared away. That whole pitch is exactly why he re-signed back then since he had no reason to think his run was ending so soon, especially since he hadn't even started yet.
