    EMCO fire Bulgaria investigation

A fire that lit up the night sky has broken out overnight at an EMCO storage facility, and Bulgarian authorities are now looking into whether sabotage played a role. No injuries were reported from this incident at the Bulgarian arms manufacturer's depot, yet the timing raises questions since another EMCO depot fire happened in August just weeks prior. The company itself attributes the recent blaze to sabotage and points to a history of over 10 similar incidents across Bulgarian defense firms dating back to 2011. That pattern becomes more specific when considering past accusations by Bulgarian prosecutors against Russian operatives who allegedly bombed EMCO depots containing ammunition intended for Ukraine and Georgia. In connection with those earlier attacks, arrest warrants were issued in 2024 for six Russians, although Moscow denies any involvement in these incidents. Bulgaria has not officially attributed this latest fire to any party yet, but investigators note a recurring pattern of suspicious explosions and two recent fires occurring within weeks of each other.
