The movie Fingernails operates on a premise so unhinged it feels like the dawn of time, yet somehow lands as the most romantic film of the year. It opens with a woman whose relationship tests at one hundred percent permanence before she takes a job at a love institute. That is where the machine fails her because she meets someone who makes her question if the data can ever be trusted. The film screams fuck feelings we have science now while showing how trying to quantify love through unreliable numbers destroys everything. Jessie Buckley, Riz Ahmed, and Jeremy Allen White just cooked in this four-star ride where one fingernail fed to a microwave determines if your bond is real. One nail at a time the narrative falls apart when you attempt to turn the mystery of affection into cold hard facts that lie.
