Germany didn't just outdo Hollywood with All Quiet On The Western Front (2022). It outdid the book it came from. Erich Maria Remarque put the trauma on paper; Berger showed a soul exiting a body in real time, frame by frame. For any politician who's ever let "boots on the ground" roll off the tongue, that closing stretch should be required viewing. Hollywood keeps serving shiny epics about "the greatest generation." This one looks like somebody smuggled a camera into a mass grave, and it still lands as more human than any of them. The bar wasn't raised. It was buried.
