Massachusetts expands home visits for new babies

Massachusetts is making a home visit from a healthcare provider standard for every family with a new baby, Gov. Maura Healey announced. The state is funding Welcome Family with $2 million so nurses can reach households in the first weeks after birth, checking on mothers and babies and screening for postpartum mental health issues. Healey put it plainly: "Everybody in the state, when you have a baby, you're going to have a home visit… an opportunity for a healthcare provider to make an assessment."
