    Halo Studios restructuring Activision

    If you think the Halo franchise is just coasting on legacy, Rebs Gaming paints a different picture of what was actually happening behind the scenes before that Xbox restructuring kicked in. Apparently, there wasn't a single major Halo title deep into full production at all when the dust settled. Instead, the internal landscape was filled with a bunch of projects stuck in early stages: a Halo 2 Remake, a Halo 3 Remake, the distant dream of Halo 7, and this smaller First Strike spin-off based on the novel that was supposed to be a shorter release sandwiched between the big ones while Halo 7 remained years away from actual development. The numbers are stark too, with reports saying only about 30 employees are still hanging around at Halo Studios. Microsoft has officially confirmed that a tiny team will just support the existing titles going forward, which means Activision is now building the next major Halo game with a brand new dedicated team. If these reports hold up, the real story isn't just the layoffs but how little progress was made on the next generation of games despite years of work. It looks like Halo is entering a completely new era under Activision. #Halo
