California Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha holidays

California now counts Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha among its official state holidays, the two Islamic holy days named in legislation Gavin Newsom put his signature to. For Muslim students, that means an excused absence on either day, no penalty attached. Employees of the state and of its schools aren't left out of the arrangement: personal leave or holiday credit is theirs to draw on when they want the time off. The policy reaches public schools and government entities alike. #GavinNewsom
