Ayra Starr Starrgirl interview POP CRAVE

    投稿者: Patel Aminata: Ayra Starr

Ayra Starr breaks down the genre-hopping energy of Starrgirl. She kept it free in the studio, having fun and trying different things without limiting herself because she exists in multitudes. When picking collaborators she had to be a huge fan of their work first. The lineup includes Theodora, Leon Thomas, K-Wan, Wizkid, and Ramalissa, artists she's been listening to for a while. #AyraStarr

The Stargirl album spans a lot of different genres and influences. What was it like to tap into different sounds for this record? It was just me being myself because I exist in multitudes and I allowed myself to do that in the studio also. Just be free, have fun, try different things without limiting myself. So it was very natural for me. And you've got a lot of great collaborations on this record. What do you look for in an artist when you're collaborating? What do I look for in an artist when I'm collaborating? I just have to like their music, to be honest. I have to be fans of their music, and everybody I collaborated with in this album and people that I've been listening to for a while, you know, from Theodora to Leon Thomas to K-Wan, like, Wizkid, Ramalissa, like, I'm huge fans of their work, so.
