The whole point of the current discourse seems designed to confuse people and distract from actual issues by dragging cancel culture back into the conversation. Abdul El-Sayed made his case on iHeartRadio THE BREAKFAST CLUB, drawing a sharp line between Hasan Piker and Nick Fuentes while dismantling the logic used to smear the streamer. He pointed out that Fuentes is driven by a hatred for anyone who doesn't look like him, whereas Hasan has said things that were poorly phrased and which El-Sayed personally disagrees with, even if they weren't intended as hate speech. The argument hinges on the sheer volume of content generated; speakers use microphones for a good part of their day, but this guy streams for eight hours a day, seven days a week. It is inevitable that stuff can be pulled out of context when you operate at that frequency, yet whatever clip goes viral is usually being selected specifically to smear somebody connected to him rather than reflecting genuine malice toward specific groups. Efforts are clearly being made to assassinate Hasan's character, and picking someone apart out of context is never done in good faith. El-Sayed rejects guilt by association as a political tactic, refusing to accept the narrative that listeners of someone being canceled are unworthy of engagement just because of what others try to turn them into.
