Trump Powell Fed renovation report
投稿者: Kelsey7f: Jerome Powell
A Fed Inspector General report dropped on the central bank's headquarters renovation, and the numbers aren't pretty: the project is now near $2.5 billion, with roughly a billion in overruns. Management and oversight failures, per the report. But nothing criminal, and nothing that justified a referral. Trump came out and said Jerome Powell should be forced off the Fed board over it, and he's asked the Attorney General to take a look at the report. Powell hasn't said anything. His run as chair wrapped in May. Kevin Warsh is running the Fed now, but Powell held onto his seat as a governor. What the whole thing really comes down to is Fed costs, oversight and interest rate policy, and both markets and policymakers are watching. #JeromePowell

First things first, we had Trump come out and demand that Jerome Powell resign over the Fed building costs. This was just yesterday. Yeah, pretty much just that. So this followed a Fed Inspector General report on the headquarters renovation, now estimated at near $2.5 billion with roughly a billion dollars in overruns. The report found project management deficiencies, but no criminal violations or grounds for a referral. Powell's term as chair ended in May 2026, but he remains a Fed governor while Kevin Warsh serves as chair. Anyone who was not aware. And markets and policymakers are watching because the clash centers on Fed costs, oversight and interest rate policy. Do you see anything about that? Not really. What, what does anything, does that bring up anything in you? Not much. No, I mean, this is just an ongoing thing. He talked about it last year quite a bit when he was calling out Jerome Powell and trying to get him to lower interest rates. But it's interesting too, because I mean, at least this justifies the idea that he actually believes this, right? Or that he like thinks that this is the problem. Because I say that because at the last Fed meeting decision, it was a unanimous vote, right? So there was no dissent. You couldn't say, oh, there was one person who voted against.
