Houthi fighters surrender Bab El-Mandeb
The writer Oliver warns that images from the fighting near Bab El-Mandeb, where an armored vehicle reportedly ran over Houthi fighters who appeared to have surrendered, create a dangerous precedent. Saudi-backed government forces have secured major gains around Dhubab today, leaving hundreds of Houthi fighters surrounded and being urged to lay down their arms. If combatants conclude that surrender offers no safety, they lose the incentive to stop fighting. This strategic reality makes the footage particularly troubling.
