Paulie Malignaggi on Bare-Knuckle vs Boxers

Paulie Malignaggi thinks boxer-versus-boxer bare-knuckle fights are the most thrilling because of the slashing styles and cuts. He says his bout with Victor Ortiz has everything for excitement since both are former world champions who have established resumes as pro boxers. While he notes skilled fighters using grabs might hold an edge in some rule sets, he keeps entertainment value at a peak. California is a state with large numbers of boxing fans likely to attend. The match runs under distinct rules compared to traditional boxing, which Paulie sees as perfect for two proven athletes.

Boxer versus boxer in bare knuckle for me is the most exciting kind of fight. Slashing styles. Boxers have slashing styles in a BKB, in bare knuckle, where you're shooting shots at each other and you're cutting each other up and whatnot. And I think it's funny because you look at my last fight, styles make fights. And like I said, everything was within the rule set. It was just that I was grabbed. I don't think I missed a punch against Rolando D. Every time I threw a punch, I got grabbed. And so that's within the rule set and that's fine. and I think some of the really really good fighters in the in the rule set uh are guys like that uh boxers are going to be at a little bit of a disadvantage when they fight guys like that but boxer versus boxer in bare knuckle for me is the most exciting kind of fight and you need to keep the entertainment value at a peak as well so I think myself against Victor from that standpoint is one of the more entertaining fights you can make uh former world champion boxers uh so the the resume speaks for itself and uh a state like California where boxing fans tune in in in large numbers and then show up in large numbers. So I'm really excited about it. Yeah, it's a good
