Brazil safety after three months living there

    投稿者: Gigliola: Brazil

Brazil gets this reputation as a place where danger finds you immediately, and after three and a half months there I started to wonder where that comes from. One fight, that was the whole tally. An election watch party on a Sunday, some guy wailing on another guy, and that counts as my only dose of violence the entire stay. Which raises the obvious question about whether the country deserves the warning label people slap on it, because a big American city would have handed me that scene way sooner.

Brazil just had the elections on Sunday. I went to an election watch party. It was pretty cool. There's something that happened. I saw a guy beating the heck out of this dude. That was my first time seeing any violence in this country, which is funny. This is my first time seeing any violence. But it took three months. To all my people out there who want to say that Brazil is some super dangerous country, it took me three months, three and a half months to see one inch of violence. It definitely would have happened faster in a large American city.
