アルバムからは2曲のナンバーワンヒット「I Wanna Love You」（Snoop Dogg参加）と「Smack That」（Eminem参加）が生まれた。

3rdアルバム『Freedom』（2008年）からはトップ10ヒット「Right Now (Na Na Na)」が生まれた。

Akon's audience, known simply as the Akon Army, has built a reputation for fierce loyalty and defensive advocacy rather than organized campaigns or formal rituals. While his social media footprint is massive, boasting over 52 million likes on Facebook alone, the fanbase operates through standard artist-to-fan channels like concert tours and official accounts rather than internal community jokes or fan-funded projects. Recent events like the 'Nights Like This' tour with Ne-Yo have seen chaotic moments, such as police arrests at Darien Lake, but these are isolated incidents of high energy rather than the stuff of decades-old folklore. The crowd's devotion remains rooted in the sheer volume of hits that span generations, creating a shared cultural language without a specific mythology of fainting crowds or street-shutting parades. In August 2026, this enduring popularity translates into measurable global standing within the industry. According to the iFANN Global Fame Rankings, Akon is the 44th most famous person in R&B / Soul, a position holding steady from the previous cycle.[編集]

Akon's full name stands as one of the longest in recorded music history. He was serving time in prison when his debut single "Locked Up" hit the airwaves, meaning he could not promote it personally upon release. His vocal signature carries a unique strained quality caused by a rare condition called vocal cord paresis. A direct descendant of the West African griot tradition of oral historians, he blends that heritage with modern sounds. Early in his career, he turned down a $1 million offer to join the rap group Ruff Ryders. While no ancient legends define his mythos, recent tours have produced viral chaos; fans still retell stories of the Darien Lake Six Flags show where six arrests were made during the performance. Another tale from the current era involves Akon discussing past personal fails, specifically referencing a fake hairpiece and a counterfeit Rolex purchase he once made.[編集]

Per iFANN's editorial analysis, Akon's net worth stands at $80 Million as of 2026. The largest portion of this wealth stems from music royalties, including publishing and songwriting credits on over 300 songs. He co-wrote Lady Gaga's early hits and earns an estimated $5-8 million annually from streaming and licensing deals. His Konvict Muzik and KonLive Distribution labels generate significant revenue through artist signings and production contracts. Akon owns a multi-million dollar mansion in Atlanta, Georgia, along with properties in Senegal and Dubai. He is the founder of the Akoin cryptocurrency project and has launched a clothing line (Konvict Clothing) and a vodka brand (Konvict Vodka). His philanthropic work through Akon Lighting Africa attracts donor funding and government contracts, though it does not directly contribute to his personal wealth.[編集]
