On the evening of September 7, 1996, Tupac Shakur attended a boxing match between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas before leaving with his entourage to drive through the intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane in Paradise. A drive-by shooting struck his BMW convertible shortly after 11:15 p.m., prompting immediate transport to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada where emergency surgery failed to stabilize his condition for six days. The Clark County Coroner's Office later ruled the cause of death as cardiopulmonary arrest resulting from multiple gunshot wounds, including one bullet that penetrated the chest and collapsed his lung.
