    Ebola outbreak DRC INSP situation report

    @urdjakademiksA treatment center is going up in Bafwasende, in Tshopo, while a radio broadcast in Titule, Bas-Uélé, was set up to push back on a rumor about student vaccinations. That's the response side of the EBOLA FATSHI outbreak in the RDC. The numbers side comes from the National Institute for Public Health (INSP), which finalized its situation report on September 29, 2026, and published it a day later. Across seven provinces, lab-confirmed Ebola virus disease cases total 8,224. Deaths among those confirmed cases sit at 3,982, a case fatality rate of 48.4%. Recoveries recorded: 2,121. Around 851 patients remain in isolation or hospital care, and contact tracing is running at 78.7%. Ituri carries the heaviest load, with 28 of its 36 health zones hit. Behind it: North Kivu at 16 zones, Tshopo at 7, Haut-Uélé at 6, Bas-Uélé at 3, and one zone each in South Kivu and South Ubangi. INSP flags the figures as provisional and open to adjustment. Source
